Carolina Mavericks Youth Lacrosse Club is based out of Chapel Hill and is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young athletes through positive coaching. We offer a range of opportunities, including travel teams, skills development programs, and clinics. With a focus on elevating lacrosse IQ and taking skills to the next level, our approach ensures that players receive top-notch experiences, highly organized practices, and specialized skills development sessions. At Carolina Mavericks, we believe in the fusion of fun and winning, providing a unique and rewarding journey for our aspiring lacrosse players.

Head Coach - High School 

Spencer Wirtheim 

Spencer played attack at both Cornell and the University of North Carolina, bringing high-level collegiate experience to our program. A U.S. Lacrosse All-American out of Baldwinsville, NY, he was a key contributor at Cornell before finishing his career at UNC. Spencer combines a high lacrosse IQ with a passion for developing players on and off the field.

Middle School and Clinic Coaches

All of our clinics are staffed and run by local Division 1 lacrosse players, bringing top-level experience and energy to every session.

Fall Skills and Drills

Skills and Drills focuses on building a strong foundation in lacrosse fundamentals. This program is a great opportunity for players of all levels to improve their game, covering shooting, stick handling, defensive techniques, and team communication.

• Ages: 1st–8th Grade
• Equipment: Helmet, pads, gloves, stick
• Coaches: Current Division 1 Men’s Lacrosse players
• Dates & Times:TBD
• Cost: $165 (one day/week = 5 sessions)

We are looking for lacrosse players who are focused and driven with a passion to play and a love for the game. Respectful young men both on and off the playing field.

We are based out of Chapel Hill and practice locally.  

Travel Teams 

Full Season is 9 months with 6 tournaments. 

The Fall season runs September-November and Spring/ Summer season runs April - June . Each season will have two practices a week and a minimum of 3  tournaments.
