Carolina Mavericks Youth Lacrosse Club is based out of Chapel Hill and is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young athletes through positive coaching. We offer a range of opportunities, including travel teams, skills development programs, and clinics. With a focus on elevating lacrosse IQ and taking skills to the next level, our approach ensures that players receive top-notch experiences, highly organized practices, and specialized skills development sessions. At Carolina Mavericks, we believe in the fusion of fun and winning, providing a unique and rewarding journey for our aspiring lacrosse players.

Youth Program Director

Kevin Unterstein
Kevin Unterstein brings over 15 years of experience in professional lacrosse and Division I athletics. As a former professional player for Atlas, Redwoods, and a Team USA Gold Medalist, Kevin understands the demands of elite competition. Currently, he serves as the Defensive Coordinator for Duke University Men's Lacrosse and the PLL New York Atlas, combining his extensive playing background with a successful coaching and recruiting career.

Brennan O'Neill
Brennan O'Neill is a standout in the lacrosse world, known for his accomplishments with the USA Men's National Team. He was named the World Championship's Most Outstanding Midfielder and Most Outstanding Player. Brennan also plays for the PLL Denver Outlaws, won the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, was named ACC Rookie of the Year, and is a proud Duke Men's Lacrosse alum.

Director of High School Development and Recruiting Coordinator Tyler Carpenter
Tyler Carpenter is a top-tier player and coach, currently with PLL New York Atlas, where he's a PLL All-Star. His impressive career includes being a 4x All-American, All-ACC honoree, NC Player of the Year, 3x High School All-American, and Western New England Defenseman of the Year. Tyler is a proud Duke Men's Lacrosse alum.

Fall Skills and Drills

This 5 week program focuses on learning lacrosse fundamentals and is an excellent opportunity for players of all levels. The sessions cover all aspects of the game, shooting techniques, stick handling, defensive strategies, and team communication.  

Ages: 1st- 8th grade

Dates: 9/4-10/6 

Days: Sundays and Wednesdays 

Equipment: Helmet, pads, gloves, stick

We are looking for lacrosse players who are focused and driven with a passion to play and a love for the game. Respectful young men both on and off the playing field.  

Ages: 2nd -10th grade

Please refer to the linked age chart to determine where your player lands.

Fall Season: September 8th - November 20th

Practice: Sundays and Wednesday

Location: Chapel Hill 

Tournaments: Three
